Eudell Anderson, 92

Mrs. Eudell Anderson, 92, died Monday, November 26, 2007, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. She was born in Toombs County but lived most of her life in Tattnall County. Mrs. Anderson was an outdoors person whose greatest joy were her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Connors Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.H. Anderson and two sons, W.S. and Bob Anderson.

Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Winston and Cheryl Anderson of Cobbtown; a daughter, Sandra Burroughs of Cobbtown; a brother, Herman Mitchum of Augusta; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 29 at 11:00 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Murl Gwynn and Reverend Carl Ledbetter officiating. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow in the Connors Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

George (Pat) W. Anderson, Jr., 59

George (Pat) W. Anderson, Jr., 59, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was formerly employed with the Tattnall County Road Department as a heavy equipment operator and presently employed with McLeod Farms. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Mason Reid Bargeron.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen C. Anderson of Reidsville; children, Heidi Deisler of St. Augustine, FL, John and Joy Bargeron of Reidsville, Angela and Adrian Nease of Glennville and Julius (Frog) and Melinda Bargeron of Glennville; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Hughes of Reidsville and Connie and Bernice Mitchell of Claxton; brother, Steve Anderson of Bellville; sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Ricky Wilson of Glennville; six grandchildren, Kelli and Andrew Bargeron, Dalton Rush, Alex Nease, Will Nease, Taylor Deisler and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 26 from the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Sterling Bargeron officiating. Burial followed in the Cedar Creek Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ronnie McLeod, Stacy Wilds, Freddie Hinson, Johnny Ray, Bart Dutton and Joey Anderson.

Willene Lively Bugg, 63

Willene Lively Bugg, 63, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, in Savannah. The native of Tattnall County loved shopping and crafts, and was retired from Metter Nursing home after 25 years, where she loved working with all of the residents.

Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Robert Holloway; sister-in-law, Mrs. Coley Lively; special niece, Judy Lively and other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 23, 2007, in the chapel of Morgan Family Funeral Home. Burial followed in Cedar Creek Cemetery.

Veda Mae Driggers Burkhalter, 89

Veda Mae Driggers Burkhalter, 89, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home. The Tattnall County native had lived in Glennville all of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. Two husbands, Homer Clifton Driggers and Tommy Burkhalter, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Deanna Driggers of Glennville; daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Richard Kemp & Anna Dean and J.W. Sapp, all of Brunswick, Brenda and Stanley Swain of Glennville, and Dianne Conley and Lewis Waters of Claxton; step-daughters, Betty Burkhalter of Glennville and Joyce Grice of Hazlehurst; sister, Claudine Sands of Glennville; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Cason, Reverend Richard Kemp and Reverend Reuben Cason officiating. Burial followed in the Beards Creek Church Cemetery.

Amanda Parker Brown, 67

Amanda Parker Brown, 67, passed away Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Long County native had lived in Ludowici and Long County all of her life. She and her husband owned and operated Brown’s Grocery and Hardware in Ludowici for 28 years. She was a member of Jones Creek Baptist Church where she served on many committees and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class. She is preceded in death by her husband, Marlin L. Brown, Jr. and her parents, Ray C. & Margaret Calloway Parker.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Damon Kennedy of Ludowici; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Ray and Bobbie Ann Parker of Ludowici; grandchildren, Clint and Caleigh Kennedy of Ludowici; niece, Kellie Amanda Parker of Orlando, FL and several cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Jones Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Stokes officiating. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Dasher, Eddie Dasher, Jimmy Parker, Mark Chesser, Darrell Balance, Marvin Deloach and John Long. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Jones Creek Church Adult Sunday School Class.

Mae Collins, 93

Mrs. Mae Collins, 93, of the Hillview Community near Collins, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at home under the care of Pearls of Life Hospice. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church.

She enjoyed writing poetry and had two poems published in the National Poetry Society. She loved helping others, being a good neighbor and was a great mother and grandmother. Her pets were given the best of attention. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Collins and two sons-in-law, Albert Fulmer and Marvin Cowart.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joe E. and Estella Collins of Corpus Christi, TX; two daughters, Sue Cowart and Lucy Fulmer both of Collins; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 24, at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Tom Deal and Rev. Gerald Dorr officiating. Burial following in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jimmie Conner, John Pate, Gabriel Collins, Christopher Collins, Anthony Fulmer and Glenn Shuman.

Deacon James Cook, 70

Deacon James Cook died November 19, 2007. He was born August 4, 1937, to Sam and Eliza Gordon Cook (now deceased) in Screven County, Dover, Georgia. He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined the Simmons Branch Baptist Church in Screven County and later joined First African Baptist Church in Glennville, GA, where he served faithfully until his death. On November 18, 1959, he was united in holy matrimony to Joan L. Wilkerson. They were blessed with nine children. Joan preceded her soul mate in death on April 20, 1996. Deacon Cook retired from the Department of Transportation after 33 years of service. His favorite hobby was planting his fruits and vegetables. One of his greatest joys was to share the fruit of his harvest with others in the community.

He leaves to cherish his memories nine wonderful children: Evangelist Marcia (Michael) Anthony of Savannah, Pastor James A. (Delois) Cook of Olive Branch, MS, Evangelist Gigi (Roger) Love of Leesville, LA, Cynthia (James) Tillman of Glennville, Brian (Tomeko) Cook of Glennville, Monica (Prince) Richards of Lithonia, Marjorie (Joseph) Nesby of Newport News, VA, Anita Faye Cook of Glennville, and Veeda L. Cook of Lithonia; eight siblings: Seaborn (Nellie) Cook of Somerset, NJ, John (Mary) Cook of Neptune, NJ, Charlie (Dorothy) Cook of Glennville, JoeNathan (Coretha) Cook of Durham, NC, Elder William (Carolyn) Cook of Glennville, twin sister Lizzie (Rufus) Moody of Glennville, Eliza Gant of Savannah, and Ruth Graham of Newark, NJ; 21 adored grandchildren; goddaughters, Sylvia Belfield of Patterson, NJ, and Andrea McNeal of Glennville; two sisters-in-law, Annie P Wilkerson of Fort Valley and Betty W. Mincey of Glennville; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 24, at First African Baptist Church in Glennville. Interment was in First African Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jonathan Cook, Joshua Cook, Kevin Blake Jr., Samuel Cook, Brian Keith Cook Jr., Austin McCord, Justus Cook, and Alex McCollum.

Honorary pallbearers were Deacons and Trustees of First African Baptist Church.

Lizzie Agnes Day Googe, 77

Lizzie Agnes Day Googe, 77, died Monday November19, 2007, at her home in Reidsville. The native of Appling County had lived several years in Brunswick before moving to the Tattnall county area. She was a member of the Holiness Faith, enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with her family.

Survivors: daughters and sons in law, Nancy Spikes, Bessie Worthan, Susan (Doyle) Tootle, Catherine Barton, Janice Washington all of Reidsville, Linda Kennedy of Jesup; son, Franklin Googe of Reidsville; brothers, Herman Day of Brunswick and Earnest Allen of Buford, SC; sister, Edna Day of Jesup; 28 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in the chapel of Morgan Family Funeral Home with burial in the Rosemary Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Eugene “Gene” Lewis, 74

Eugene “Gene” Lewis, 74, died Saturday, November 24, 2007, at Hospice Savannah.

The Reidsville native had worked at Dixie Plywood and had retired from the Glynn County Public Works Department.

He is survived by his wife, Merita “Rita” Lynn Lewis of Springfield; a sister, Tommie Nell Sikes of Reidsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services were held 1:00 p.m. at Collins Baptist Church Cemetery in Collins.

Cecil Rogers, 74

Mr. Cecil Rogers, 74, passed away Sunday morning at the Life Care Center at Wells Crossing in Orange Park, FL. The Coffee County native had lived in Clayton County, GA, for 25 years and moved to Reidsville in 1978. He was a US Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and was retired grocery manager from Hill Shopping Center. Mr. Roger attended the Reidsville United Methodist Church and was a member of the Reidsville Grand Rascals. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Bussey Rogers.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Marsha Rogers of Canton, GA and Sam and Debbie Rogers of Orange Park, FL; sister, Betty Jean Nederveen of Charleston, SC; five grandchildren, Martelle Marie Rogers, Eric Mitchell Rogers, Candice L. Leath, Jason C. Kennedy and Larry Wayne Rogers Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Cody Chatman, Kayla Chatman and Justin Leath; special friends, Louis and Wanda Lynn of Reidsville and several nieces and nephews.

Lewis “Mose” Sapp, 76

Lewis “Mose” Sapp, 76, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at home. The Tattnall County native lived his young years in Candler County before joining the Air Force in 1948. He retired as a Master Sergeant and lived in Freeport, FL, until moving back to Candler County in 1999. He served in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Mose became a Master Mason in 1955 and later a York Rite Mason and Shriner. He was a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ina Sapp and a grandson, Nick Wilson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Carter Sapp of Metter; two sons, Steven Sapp of NC and Michael Sapp of Norman, OK; two daughters, Carol Wiggins of Milton, FL, and Lora Wilson of DeFuniak Springs, FL; two step-sons, Jim Anderson of Glennville and Anthony Anderson of Collins; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and eight step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 26, 2007, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Hooks Chapel, with Rev. Doug Gibson officiating. Burial followed at the Cedar Creek Cemetery with Masonic and Military honors.

Barbara G. Wilds, 72

Barbara G. Wilds, 72, passed away Monday evening, November 26, 2007, at the Tattnall Health Care in Reidsville. The California native had lived in Reidsville since 1962 and was a seamstress.

She is survived by her husband, Aubrey Wilds of Reidsville; daughter, Carol Hargett of Reidsville; three sons and daughter-in-law, Johnny Ashton Mincey, III, Sam Hunter and Tonya Beth Mincey of Collins and Jesse Zack Sisson of Sylvania; brother, Blynn Smith of Reidsville; five grandchildren, Tina Waters, Sam and Tara Mincey, and Jase and Renee Mincey; four great-grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home in Reidsville. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, November 29 from the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the Stoney Hill Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Thurman Williams, Jr., 45

Thurman Williams, Jr., 45, passed away Monday night, November 26, 2007, in Reidsville. The North Carolina native had lived in Florida many years moving to Reidsville four years ago. He was a roofer.

He is survived by his parents, Thurman “Jack” and Carrie Williams of Hartsville, TN; daughter, Caitlyn Williams of SC; sister, Pam Vincent of Homestead, FL; five brothers, Truman Joseph Vincent of Conyers, Daniel Jefferson Vincent of Loganville, Jack Steven Vincent of Hartsville, TN, Randall Darris Vincent of Chapmansboro, TN, and James Leonard Williams of Hartsville, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29 at Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 30 at 2:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Marc Foster officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Flock Church Cemetery.

Rev. Ethel Pearl Ealey-Nichols, 68

Reverend Ethel Pearl Ealey-Nichols was born March 9, 1939, in Collins, GA. She was the fourth of seven children born to the late Jeremiah and Eunice Ealey. She graduated from Tattnall County Industrial High School in Reidsville. After high school, she moved to Cincinnati, OH, married and became the mother of twins. After her retirement, she obtained an associate degree in liberal arts at Chatfield College in Cincinnati. After several studies in Christian Education, she became an ordained minister in Power and Faith Ministries, in Cincinnati. She was instrumental in leading many people to Jesus Christ. However, children’s ministry was her primary focus.

She is survived by her husband, Odie Nichols; son, Reverend Samuel Canty (Natalie); daughter, Sonja McIntosh of Cincinnati; two brothers, Reverend Herschel Alvin Ealey of Pembroke Pines, FL; Reverend James Hosea Ealey (Polly) of Detroit, MI; four sisters, Pearlie Inez Forrest of Collins, GA, Rubye Mae Florence (Robert) of Dayton, OH, Mary Helen Goines of Cincinnati, OH, Geraldine Banks (Rev. Ron), Hamilton, OH; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Jasmine McIntosh of Cincinnati; godson, Freddie Pough, Jr. (Erika) of Atlanta, GA and several nephews, nieces and relatives.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 24, 2007, at James Temple Church of God In Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio with Reverend Samuel Canty and Reverend Ron Banks officiating.

Eulas Lamb, 85, died Saturday November 17, 2007, at Community Hospice in Vidalia.

The native of Toombs County lived most of his life in the Collins area. He attended the Collins Baptist Church, loved spending time in his garden and yard.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Lamb; children, Brenda Banks of Statesboro, Connie Heckel of Vidalia, Timie Lamb of Daisy and Danny Lamb of Claxton; brother, Howard Lamb; stepchildren, Betty Ivey of Dunn, NC, Mary Lou Moore of Savannah, Linda Turner and Lessie Barron of Collins, William Outler of Savannah, Wayne Outler of Sandersville; 23 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and five great great-grandchildren

Minnie Lee Parker, 92

Minnie Lee Parker, 92, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home. She was born in Tattnall County on September 28, 1915, and lived in the Glennville area most of her life. She and her husband operated Beard’s Bluff- Adamson’s Fish Camp for many years. She was a homemaker and member of Pigott Branch Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 76 years, Tommie Parker of Glennville; special sister-in-law, Alma Haggerty of Hinesville; stepmother, Mamie Milton of Ludowici; half-brothers, Larry Milton and Emmett Milton, both of Ludowici; half-sisters, Annie Sue Helms and Betty Way, both of Hinesville; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held November 20, 2007, at Pigott Branch Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend James Young officiating.

James H. Williams, 87, passed away Sunday, November 18 in Seminole, FL.

The Tattnall County native left this area in 1938. He was retired from Washington Gas and Light Service in Washington, DC, after 45 years of service.

He is survived by a son, James Paul Williams of Seminole, FL and daughter, Christina Williams of Garland, TX.

Funeral services were held November 21, 2007, at J. Mellie NeSmith Funeral Home Chapel in Claxton. Burial followed at Anderson Church Cemetery.

Ruby Lee Boyette Conner, 79

Ruby Lee Boyette Conner, 79, died Tuesday in Valdosta. The Tattnall County native was the daughter of the late Rastus and Fannie Boyette. She lived in Brunswick many years before moving to Lake Park, GA, in 2005. Ruby lee loved gardening, reading and was a Cub Scout leader when her son was young. She was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church and the widow of Herbert Conner.

She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, H. LaDon and Cynthia Conner of Lake Park, GA and Daryl Lee Conner of Dallas, TX; a granddaughter, Connie Lynn Conner of Lake Park; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel. Burial followed in the Old Anderson Cemetery near Collins.

Mr. David Deloach, 55, passed away Friday evening, November 9, 2007, at Carl Vinson’s VA Medical Center. The Ft. Lauderdale native had lived in Collins for the past four years. He was a heavy equipment operator and a musician. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son, Jessee Anderson of Florida; mother, Mrs. Jane Deloach of Collins; sister, Sissy Deloach of Collins; brother, Dewey Deloach of Ohio; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Graveside funeral services were held Wednesday at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville with Reverend Marc Foster officiating.

Gloria Mae Frazier-Deloach, 51, passed away Saturday, November 10, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville, GA.

She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Bell Stewart; son-in-law, Dennis Lewis Stewart; two grandchildren, Dennis Laquanté Stewart and Delayia Angele Stewart all of Glennville; five brothers, Otto James (Rose) Roundtree of Soperton, James Frazier Jr. of Darien, Willie Lee Roundtree of Lumber City, Jimmy Frazier of Brunswick and David Frazier. Her husband, Arron Deloach; mother, Mary Lue Roundtree Frazier and sister, Shirley Ann Frazier preceded her in death.

A wake will be held Thursday, November 15, 2007, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at King and Sons Funeral Home in Glennville. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 16, 2007, at 12:00 noon at St. James A.M.E. Church with Reverend Sharlene Woodruff Hendley and Bishop Caverous J. Boggs officiating. Burial will follow at Sandhill Cemetery.

Marcus R. DeLoach, 70, passed away Monday, November 12, 2007, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. The Long County native had lived in Long County and Glennville all of his life. He owned Sandhill Garage and Wrecker Service and was a member of Little Rock Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Vera DeLoach, and a brother, Wendell DeLoach.

Leona Dyches Dixon, 75

Mrs. Leona Dyches Dixon, 75, of Claxton died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Evans Memorial Hospital. The Bulloch County native had lived most of her life in Evans County and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Bobby Dixon.

She is survived by three daughters, Gail Richardson of Claxton, Sara Geiger and Janice Banks both of Macon; two brothers, Eddie Dyches and Robert Dyches of Swainsboro; 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services were conducted Thursday at Green Fork Cemetery near Millen with Pastor James Spence officiating.

Thurman Paul “T.P.” Jarriel, 79

Thurman Paul “T.P.” Jarriel, 79, passed away late Thursday, November 8, 2007, at Candler Hospital in Savannah. The Toombs County native had lived in Tattnall County most of his life. He was a Merchant Marine and also a US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War. He was a retired Electrolux Sales Person and also retired as a Captain from the Georgia Department of Corrections. Mr. Jarriel was a past master of Rising Sun Lodge #32, a member of the Joe’s Kountry Kettle Liars Table and the Reidsville Grand Rascals. He was preceded in death by his sister, Johnnie Will Todd and his parents, George Jarriel and Laura Ozean Lanier.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joann Kea Jarriel of Collins; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Jeff Blocker of Daytona, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Kay Jarriel of Glennville and Glenn and Theresa Jarriel of Reidsville; a sister and brother-in-law, Sue and Dean Miller of Reidsville; a brother and his wife, Billy and Mary Ann Kea of Enterprise, AL; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Todd, Wayne Todd, Eddie Todd, Steve Todd, Neil Thompson, and Steven Newsome. Honorary pallbearers were Georgia Department of Corrections, Joe’s Kountry Kettle Liars Table, and Reidsville Grand Rascals.

Funeral services were held Sunday, November 11, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Reidsville Baptist Church with Rev, Sterling Bargeron, and Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery with Masonic and Military Rites.

Vicki Mikell Kicklighter, 49, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007. The Chatham County native had lived in Glennville for the past 17 years. She attended public school in Savannah and loved arts and crafts. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by a daughter, Tiffany Kicklighter.

She is survived by her husband, Terry Kicklighter of Glennville; brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Carolyn Mikell of Pooler; aunt, Elise Clifton; uncle, Donnie Peacock; nieces and nephews, Rachel, Jamie, Amber, Brandy, Tonya, Terry, Rick and Joey.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 10, 2007, at the Chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Bryan Anderson officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.

Eddie Paul O’Neal, 66, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at Kendred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, FL. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all his life. He was retired from Civil Service at Fort Stewart with 30 years of service and was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his children, Eliza and Jeff Blanton of Jesup, Tammy and Joe Gomez of Glennville, Denise O’Neal of Hinesville, William “Hoss” and Charlotte O’Neal of Glennville and Donnie and Rachel O’Neal of Hinesville; stepchildren, Lisa Soloman, William “Bubba” Soloman, Raymond Soloman and Danny Hughes, all of Glennville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Troy and Janice O’Neal of Hinesville and Billy and Marsha O’Neal of Glennville; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, November 9, 2007, from the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Miller and Reverend Jimmy Lord officiating. Burial followed at Pigot Branch Church Cemetery.

John “Winton” Driggers, 86

John “Winton” Driggers, 86, went home to be with his heavenly father and beloved wife on October 29, 2007. He was born in Liberty County and lived most of his life in Savannah, where he retired from Savannah Electric and Power Company after 35 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Third Armored Division and participating in the Battles of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church, having served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Chairman of the Deacon board.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Kicklighter Driggers.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Don and Linda Driggers of Savannah; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Royce Joiner of Savannah; sister, Mrs. Marlin Unger of Savannah; foster sisters, Mrs. A.L. Anthony of Savannah and Mrs. Earl McCoy of Martinez; foster brother, Ennis Purcell of Savannah; two grandsons, two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held from the chapel of Brannen-Kennedy Funeral Home with the Reverend Donnie Burke officiating. Burial followed in the Glennville City Cemetery.

Cora Lee Battle Grant entered into eternal rest October 31, 2007, in Reidsville, GA. She was born in Montgomery County, GA, on February 13, 1936.

She is survived by ten daughters: Bernstine McLemore of Fayetteville, GA, Jeannie Brown of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Sarah McLemore of Johnson Corner, GA, Alice Battle, Barbara Battle, Minnie Pearl Guest, Toratia Battle and Chanta Battle, all of Reidsville, GA, Ericka McLemore Wright of Norcross, GA, and Constance Battle of Hawaii; two sons, Cardell Battle and Jonathan Johnson, both of Reidsville, GA; two sisters, Lois Kelly and Dora Lee McLemore, both of Vidalia, GA; godson, darien K. Kelly; dear friend, Delia Harden; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.

Mr. J. C. Green, 81, passed away Thursday morning, November 1, 2007, at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah. The Tattnall County native had lived in Collins all of his life. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the US Army. He was retired from Georgia Pacific and was of the Pentecostal Faith. Mr. Green enjoyed spending time on his farm and tending to his ponds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Lillie Mae Morgan Green, a grandson, Justin Sikes; great-grandchildren, Jim Jarrell Jr. and Daisy Jarrell.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Kathryn Green of Collins; two daughters and son-in-law, Linda Jarrell of Collins and Lanora and Dean Cranford of Reidsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Fred Meeks of Cobbtown, and Josephine and Henry Walling of Granitville, SC; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Talmadge and Margaret Green of Cobbtown, Rev. Jerome Jarriel, 69, died Monday, November 5, 2007, at East Georgia Regional Hospital. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident was a farmer, truck driver and for the past seven years a poultry farmer. Jerome was a Navy veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Lee Jarriel and a grandson, Joey Jarriel.

He is survived by his former wife, Meletta Ansley Boyette of Collins; two sons, Gregory Paul Jarriel (Carla) of Collins and William Jarriel (Cindy) of Glennville; a brother, Jason Jarriel of Collins; a sister, Lorena Callaway of Collins; five grandchildren, Justin Paul Jarriel of Reidsville, Lea McKenzie Jarriel, Ashley Russo and Tom Merritt all of Collins and Jessie Jarriel of Missouri; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lan and Freida Strickland and a brother, Bill Strickland.

Nancy Anderson Dent, 88

Nancy Anderson Dent, 88, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2007, at Ogeechee Area Hospice inpatient center in Statesboro. Nancy was born in Tattnall County March 26, 1919, to Lester and Pearl Kennedy Anderson and lived in Albany for many years before moving back to Glennville in 1992. She was a graduate of Glennville High School and attended Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University. She taught school for many years in Tattnall, Ware and Appling Counties. She was the co-owner of the W.L. Dent Beauty & Barber Supply Company in Albany from 1939 until 1976. She was a member of Albany First Baptist Church for nearly 50 years. She was a member of S.C. Walden Sunday School Class, J.O.Y. Group, Green Thumb Garden Club and the Sewing Club for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Dent.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Lamar Blakey; grandson, Waymon L. Blakey all of Glennville; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Funeral Services were held Monday, October 29, 2007 at Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Alice Howard, 60

Alice Howard, 60, was born August 9, 1947, in Uvalda, GA, to the late Fleming and Ardelia Adams. She departed this life on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at Glenvue Nursing Home under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

She attended public school in Tattnall County. She later moved to Florida and lived for many years. She worked as a housekeeper on the Miami Florida Beach.

She met the love of her life. They were together 25 years before they married. They were united in Holy Matrimony on October 6, 1992. He passed away on October 30, 1992.

In 1993 she returned home to live with her family. She worked at Ithaca Sewing Factory until it closed and then at Claxton Poultry until her health failed.

Two sisters, one brother and one nephew preceded her in death.

She is survived by one sister, Lula Mae Adams; special nieces; nephews; cousins and friends; two brothers-in-law; and three sisters-in-law who all love her very much.

Funeral services were held Saturday, October 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. at Center of Life Church of God with Pastor Tony Harden and Minister Reba K. Feliciano officiating. Cousins and friends served as pallbearers. Interment followed at Old Halltown Cemetery.

Belinda Dowd LaPan, 56, passed away early Sunday Morning at her residence. The Chatham County native had lived in Charlotte most of her life, prior to moving to Belmont a year ago. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her mother, Hilda Dowd.

She is survived by her partner of 34 years, Gary Ott of York, SC; daughter, Hope LaPan of Bellmont, NC; son, Richard LaPan Jr. of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Brenda Roberson of Jacksonville, GA, Janice Dowd and Sandra Laney, both of York, SC; three brothers, Richard Dowd of Stanley, NC, Sport Dowd of Savannah, GA and Roger Dowd of York, SC; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas H. Moody, 68, died Thursday, October 25, 2007, after a long illness. He was born March 31, 1939 in long county and lived there most of his life. He was a painting contractor and a member of Pigott Branch Baptist Church.

Mr. Moody was preceded in death by his parents, James Irvin Moody and Katie Jane Dennison; brothers, Garland Moody, Ronnie Moody and Doyle Moody and sisters, Lizzie Rewis and Jewel Groover; one great-grandchild, Stevie Lee Royer-Watts.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dora Lee Moody of Long County; son, Thomas H. Moody Jr. (Lori) of Ludowici; daughters, Doreen Kicklighter (Bruce) of Glennville, Brenda Hawbecker (Joe) of Griffin, Marie Moody of Ludowici and Diane Hutcheson (Jerry) Reidsville; brothers, Remer Moody, Waldo Moody and Truman Moody, all of Ludowici; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
