She was born on March 22, 1957. She was a member of the Living Word Christian Center in Lyons, GA. She leaves to cherish her memories her father, Adair Bell of Glennville, GA; four sisters, Annie Bernice Jones of Buffalo, NY, Loretta Bell (Dennis) Stewart of Glennville, GA, Mary Lee Gieger of Jacksonville, FL and Hattie (James) Latimore of Douglasville, GA; one brother, Johnny (Rebecca) Jones of Glennville, GA; one aunt, Alvenia (Johnny) Williams of Douglas, GA; two uncles, Fredrick (Mary) Bell of Philadelphia, PA, and Junior Campbell (JC) of Hinesville, GA. Mary Denson, 58 Mrs. Mary Denson, 58, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 21, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Saint Louis, MO, native had lived in Collins the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Vidalia. She is survived by her husband, Felix Ronnie Denson, of Collins; a daughter, Patricia Ann Cribbs of Collins; a son, Felix Ronnie Denson Jr. of Maryland; two brothers, Art Matlock of St. Louis and Jack Matlock of Illinois; four grandchildren, Ashley, Korey and Samantha Denson and StevieRay Fowler; a nephew, Steve Matlock of St. Louis; a niece, Cathy Danver of St. Louis. Hazel Johnson Folsom, 70 Hazel Johnson Folsom, 70, passed away Monday, May 26, 2008, at her residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Wayne County native had lived in this area all of her life. She was a retired Poultry Farmer, homemaker and an avid fisherman. She is a member of Ebenezer Free Will Baptist Church and preceded in death by her husband, R.D. Folsom, Jr., and parents, Billy and Deloris Johnson. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Danny McKinney of Camden, TN and Peggy and Scott Pedrick of Claxton; sons and daughters-in-law, Royce and Jodonne Folsom and Brent and Tina Folsom all of Glennville; sisters, Jane O’Berry and Charlotte Wells both of Ludowici; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Ebenezer Freewill Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Cason officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Ed S. Lynch, 89 Ed S. Lynch, 89, of Collins, GA, died Sunday, May 25 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, GA. Ed was born in Chattanooga, TN, and was preceded in death by parents, LW and Sarah Lynch and six brothers. Ed served in the Army in World War II and saw action in New Guinea. He was employed at Eastern Airlines for 37 years and was Station Manager in Lake Charles, Louisiana before transferring to Atlanta in 1966. He retired in 1983 and found a great hobby in making many beautiful pieces of stained glass for family and friends until Parkinson’s disease and cancer forced him to stop. While living in Williamson, GA, Ed was actively involved for many years in the cancer support group in Griffin, where he and his wife were members of the Hospital Auxiliary. In 2006, they moved to Collins, GA. because of failing health and to be close to their daughter. Ed was a member of Reidsville United Methodist Church and the Lillian Eason Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Florence (Flo) Burgner Lynch; son, Scott Lynch of Smyrna, GA., and daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Don Mozley of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and Sue and Chuckie Woodcock, of Collins, GA.; three grandchildren, Tim (Kristin) Mozley of Atlanta, Blake (Brian) Thews of NC, and Michael (Monica) Akins of Hagan, GA.; two step-grandchildren, Tabitha (JT) Allred and Charlie Woodcock, of Collins, GA. and eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and special in-laws, Betty and AG Grant of Jacksonville, AR, and Charlotte Burgner and Everett Burgner of Chattanooga, TN. Private committal services will be conducted Friday May 30, 2008, at the Georgia Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Glennville. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 31, at Reidsville United Methdist Church at 11:00 AM. Betty Ann Coney Middleton, 64 Mrs. Betty Ann Coney Middleton, 64, of Winston-Salem, NC, entered this life on October 23, 1943. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age. She entered eternal rest quietly at Candler General Hospital Saturday morning, May 24, 2008, at 7:00 a.m. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jewel Middleton (JW). To this union one child was born. Eva Claire Jarriel Moody, 78 Eva Claire Jarriel Moody, 78, passed away Friday, May 23, 2008, at Cedar Plantation Assisted Living in Metter, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of her life. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern College and retired from Tattnall County public schools as an elementary school teacher. She was a member of Ella Grove Baptist Church and was preceded in death by a sister, Edith West. She is survived by her husband, Encil Moody of Glennville; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Sammy Hall of Milledgeville; sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and Dean Moody and Michael and Lenora Moody all of Glennville; brother, Jerry Jarriel of Collins; sisters, Faye Anderson of Collins and Marguerite Harrison of Savannah; seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. William Herbert Rewis, 76 Mr. William Herbert Rewis, age 76, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2008, at Community Hospice of Vidalia, Georgia after a short illness. Mr. Rewis was born in Cobbtown, GA, to Clifford and Amanda Rewis. He lived in Florida for 27 years, returning to Georgia in 1995. Mr. Rewis was an avid outdoorsman with hobbies that included fishing and working on boats and motors. He also enjoyed cats and dogs, especially one special dog named “Candy.” Mr. Rewis is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ervin Rewis and Gene Rewis, one sister, Lessie Register, and one grandson, Jeff Rewis. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Rewis; one son and daughter-in-law, Buddy (H.C.) Rewis and Adrianna Rewis and one daughter and son-in-law Linda and Joe Smith, all of Lyons; two sisters, Lottie Moody of Ludowici and Lois Moore of Macon; five grandchildren, Pamela Blount and Jason Rewis, both of Vidalia, Joe D. Smith Jr. and Giovanni Rewis, both of Lyons, and Nicole Beach of Bluffton, SC. Mr. Rewis had nine special great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Gladys Rogers Sharpe, 95 Mrs. Gladys Rogers Sharpe, 95, passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 21, 2008, at her residence. The Tattnall County native was one of 15 children born to Otto and Minnie Hollingsworth Rogers. She had lived in this area for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church of Reidsville. She loved to fish and work in her garden. Granny, as she was well known, was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend that will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Sharpe. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Sharpe of Reidsville; a son, Roger Sharpe of Collins; granddaughter, Mikki and Ronnie Kilgore of Lyons; a grandson, Jessie and Dena Sharpe of Collins; three great-grandchildren, Kaleb Johnson, Dakota and Makenzie Kilgore; two step great-grandsons, Brandon and Blake Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was a carpenter and a member of Glennville United Pentecostal Church. He is survived by five brothers, Freeman Walker of Jesup, C.H. Blocker, Roy Walker, Douglas Walker, Noland Walker, all of Glennville; eight sisters, Mollie Logan, Pauline Huber, Rita Walker, all of Glennville, Retha Holland of Ludowici, Mary Moody of Ludowici, Mildred Strickland of Pooler, Lois Bryant of Eden, Myrtle Williams of Metter; and several nieces and nephews. LeRoy Colson, Jr., 79 LeRoy Colson, Jr., 79, passed away Friday, May 16, 2008, at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Evans County native had lived in this area all of his life. He was retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation and worked with Bob’s Auto Parts and was a farmer. He was a member of Watermelon Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Ray Colson. He is survived by his children, Wanda and Raymond Pettigrew of Claxton, Barbara Hatcher of Thomasville, GA, and Randy and Suzanne Colson of Glennville; sister and brother-in-law, Lutrell and Lemuel McCorkle of Register, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Martha Colson of Claxton and Floyd and Elaine Colson of Warran, OH; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Arthur Grant, 75 Mr. Arthur Grant, 75, passed away Thursday morning at the Tattnall Health Care Center in Reidsville under the care of Southern Care Hospice. The North Carolina native had lived in this area many years and was a retired farmer. He is survived by the loving staff and residents of the Tattnall Health Care Center. Graveside funeral services were conducted Monday, May 19, 2008, at the Reidsville City Cemetery with Rev. Frederick Fondren, Chaplain of Southern Care Hospice, officiating at the service. Bradley B. Violet Mercy Phillips Kinsey, 75 Violet Mercy Phillips Kinsey, 75, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at Tattnall Healthcare. The Syracuse, NY, native lived in Texas before moving to this area five years ago. She worked as a nurse’s aid for many years and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was of the Baptist faith. She is survived by her children, Jeanette and Peter Plodeck, Linda and Pete Luchina, William Kinsey, Robert Kinsey and Daniel and Gina Kinsey of Reidsville; sister, Evelyn Phillips of North Carolina; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Lula Mae Kunney, 93 Lula Mae Kunney was born to the late John Kunney and Lula Lofton Kunney on January 31, 1915, in Baker County, Georgia. She was the youngest of six siblings. She passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2008. She was educated in the public schools of Baker County. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Albany State College in Albany, Georgia. She was employed with the Baker and Mitchell County School Systems for over 35 years. During her employment, she served as a Lunchroom Supervisor, Teacher, Principal and Adult Literacy Teacher. She was also employed as a Census Worker for the United States Census Bureau. Her civic activities included serving as Secretary of the Independent Fraternal Union. She received numerous awards in the field of education and was a member of several professional organizations. She joined Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church in Elmodel, Georgia at an early age. She was a devoted member and served as church secretary for 50 plus years until her illness. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Norris Kunney, Richard Kunney, Arminder Kunney and Alice E. Harris. Miss Kunney leaves to mourn, her son, John Sr. (Mattie) of Reidsville, GA; brother, Benjamin T. Kunney of Elmodel, GA; grandchildren, Wanda K. Mosley (Quinton) of Reidsville, GA, John Kunney Jr. of Alpharetta, GA, Christopher Kunney (Rossie) of Atlanta, GA; great-grandchildren, Jamie Murphy of Ellenwood, GA, Brian and Jordan Kunney of Atlanta, GA; great-great-grandchildren, Jaylin and Jaimee Murphy of Ellenwood, GA, and a host of relatives and friends. Joseph William Roberts Sr., 76 Joseph William Roberts Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Glennville and affectionately known as Buck, graciously and peacefully went home to be with our Lord on Friday, May 16, 2008. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earvin and Eula (Frazier) Roberts. He accepted Christ at an early age and worshipped at First African Baptist Church in Glennville, GA. He worked as a Pulpwood Truck Driver. Joseph was a devoted husband, a caring father and a loving grandfather and great grandfather. He will always be remembered for his unconditional love, dedicated friendship and unreserved caring spirit. He is survived by his loving wife, Johnnie Lee (Tillman) Roberts. In addition to his wife of 50 plus years, he leaves behind his daughters and sons, Shirley E. Smith of Glennville, GA, Dorothy M. Hall of Atlanta, GA, Polly A. Sarah W. “Billie” Shuman, 89 Sarah W. “Billie” Shuman, 89, passed away Thursday morning, May 15, 2008, at the Glenvue Nursing Home in Glennville. Born January 21, 1919, in Hagan, Georgia, she was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and Church worker. Mrs. Shuman graduated from Claxton High School and shortly thereafter moved to Reidsville and married the late Jim Shuman Jr. They operated “Shuman Market” for 45 years and she was a key to the success of the business. She was known for her industrious work and her ability to care for her customer’s needs. Their market was known for its outstanding meat along with the quality service. She joined the Reidsville United Methodist Church in the late 1930s and was a loyal member of the Tommy Thomson Sunday School Class. She sang in the choir, served on the Administrative Board, and was actively involved in several committees. She supported the church regularly until her health declined. Late in life she became a resident of North Springs Assisted Living in Claxton, Georgia, where she and her many friends were very involved in the activities of the home. She was an avid reader and spent many hours in her room in that pursuit. She loved her time there and thought the staff was outstanding. Her time at Glenvue was short but was highlighted by great care and attention by the staff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Shuman Jr.; her mother, Elizabeth Smith; her father, Alva Smith; and her brother, A.C. Smith. Also a long time friend and employee, Johnny C. “Red” Futch. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Frances Shuman, Daniel and Eva Lou Shuman, brother, Joel Smith, grandson, Jim and Clarice Shuman, granddaughters, Donna Peyton, Gina and David Marshall, and Danette Gore. She also had eight great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Reidsville United Methodist Church on Saturday May 17, 2008. Interment followed in the Reidsville City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Bruce Oliver, Billy Eason, John Shuman, Mark Shuman, Jackie Trim, Johnny Shuman and John Kappas. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Tommy Thomson Sunday School Class. Margie Thigpen, 50 Mrs. Margie Thigpen, age 50, died May 14, 2008, at her residence, under the care of Community Hospice, after a brief illness. She was a native of Florida but resided all of her life in the Toombs County area. She loved flowers and gardening and was a member of the Lyons Holiness church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Ann Wells and her brother, Richard Otis Mosley. She is survived by her husband, Marvin Thigpen of Lyons, one son, J.R. Thigpen of Lyons, her father, Otis Mosley of Cobbtown, three grandchildren, Login, Jordan and Hunter Thigpen, and their mother, Daniell Sharpe Thigpen, all of Lyons, three sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy and Fletcher Hoyt of Avon Park, FL, Emma and Gary Prescott of Palmdale, FL, Corrine and Brian Belgarde of Avon Park, FL, aunts and uncles, Homer and Glenda Culpepper of Avon Park, FL, Gene Hall of Avon Park, FL, Lottis and Jr. Wilkerson of Swainsboro, GA, Elizabeth and Dennis Joyner of Vidalia, GA, Mary Emma Hutcheson of Soperton, GA, Ray and Dianne Mosley of Higgston, GA and Dan Mosley of Swainsboro, GA. Mrs. Nina Mae Braddy Wilson age 90 of Vidalia died early Saturday morning May 17, 2008 at Meadows Regional Medical Center after a short illness. Mrs. Wilson was a native of Montgomery County living in the area most of her life and was employed with Oxford of Vidalia as a seamstress for over 25 years. She was a member of Vidalia Baptist Temple and her favorite pastimes included fishing, sewing, and gardening. Mrs. Wilson is preceded in death by her husband Lehmon “Lee” Wilson. Mrs. Wilson is survived by two sons and daughters -in-law John Paul Wilson and wife Jaunita of Vidalia, and Larry Wilson and wife Karen of Dietrich, Illinois, two daughters and sons-in-law Lona Stewart and husband Ralph of Reidsville, and Shelby W. Kramer and husband Billy of Lyons. Eleven grandchildren, several great, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Nina Mae Braddy Wilson were held Monday May 19, 2008, from the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Thompson officiating. Joe B. Harris, 78 Joe B. Harris, 78, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia. The Tattnall County native lived most of his life in Collins but had lived in the Reidsville area for the past 10 years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Marines and a graduate of the University of Georgia. For most of his career, he was owner and operator of Harris Grocery, a farmer and a former security guard at Thomas & Betts in Vidalia. Joe was a former Mayor and city councilman of Collins and a member of the Collins Baptist Church. William E. “Bill” Tanner, 68 William E. “Bill” Tanner, 68, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his residence, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Toombs County native had lived in the Glennville and Reidsville area most of his life. He was retired from Canoochee EMC and was a member of Reidsville Methodist Church where he was a former Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, George E. and Vera Tanner. He is survived by his wife, Gracie Mae Tanner of Glennville; children, Jane E. Harris and Mary C. Tanner both of Reidsville and Melba Jean Martin of Lyons; sisters, Betty Tanner McNorrill of Akin, SC, and Phillis Tanner Helton of Merietta, GA; brother, George L. Tanner of Milledgeville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Julian B. Thomas, 74 Julian B. Thomas, 74, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at The Griffin House in Claxton, GA. The Tattnall County native had lived in this area all of his life. He served in the Georgia National Guard, was a member of the Georgia Poultry Board and was a founding member of Glennville Hatchery. He also served as a Tattnall County Commissioner and was the owner/operator of Georgia Nuggets and Nature’s Choice. He was a member of Glennville First Baptist Church, serving on the Board of Deacons and as a Sunday school teacher. He was preceded in death by his son, Danny Thomas; sister, JoAnn Thomas and parents, Rufus and Bertha Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Jackie DeLoach Thomas of Glennville; daughter-in-law, Libba Thomas of Glennville; grandson, Drew Thomas and Brett Thomas, both of Glennville; great-grandson, Waylon Thomas, also of Glennville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lyndal and Kennon Tatum, Wanda Lopez and Anita and Bob Kelley, all of Reidsville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kerry and Mary Thomas of Albany and Ronnie Thomas of Charleston, SC, and several nieces and nephews. Robert Dale Tippins, 47 As the Master was looking over His garden of flowers, He spotted one Robert Dale Tippins, who had lost his lust for life and his body was wracked with pain. He softly whispered, “Come home, my child. I need you in my heavenly bouquet.” Thus, our loved one departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2008, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, GA. Robert Dale Tippins was born October 3, 1960, in Liberty County, GA, to the late James W. and Lillie Mae Tippins of Glennville, GA. He received his education in the public schools of Long County. Among a list of career opportunities, Dale was employed as a heavy equipment operator with Kenny Edwards. His life will be cherished by his loving fiancée, Maybell Mincey of Baxley; two daughters, Nicole Carter of Baxley and Nickcole Jenkins of Chesapeake, VA; one son, Travis Tippins of Abbeville, GA; four brothers, James W. Tippins Jr. (Brenda) of Hinesville, Bill Tippins of Augusta, Glen Tippins of Stuart, FL and Joel Tippins (Camolela) of Ludowici; four sisters, Shirlene Perry of Augusta, Barbara Lisbon, Lisa (John) Davis, and Stephanie (Ricky) Thomas, all of Glennville; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, a special nephew, Corey Lisbon and other cousins, relatives and loving friends. Marla Lynn Mercer, 50 Marla Lynn Mercer, 50, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro. The native of Bulloch County lived several years in Savannah before returning to Metter in 1995. She was a painter and enjoyed woodworking, making swings, tables and birdhouses. She was predeceased by her father Ben Ebb Mercer and brother Kenney Ray Mercer. She is survived by her mother, Vonelle C. Mercer Gillis of Metter; brothers, Ben E. (Wanda) Mercer of Metter, and Jimmy Wayne (Sherry) Mercer of Charleston SC; several nieces and nephews and two great nieces. Funeral services were Friday, May 2, at the funeral home. Frances Folsom T. Stephens, 86 Mrs. Frances Folsom T. Stephens, 86, died May 6, 2008, at Tattnall Community Hospital. Born May 20, 1921, in Reidsville, Georgia, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mrs. Stephens graduated from Reidsville High School and the Orlando School of Cosmetology. She retired as Chief Operator of Coastal Utilities in Hinesville, Georgia, after thirty years of employment. She was a lifelong member of the Reidsville United Methodist Church where she served as a member of the Administrative Board, past chairman of the Guild Chapter of Methodist Women, children’s Sunday School teacher, and was a charter member of the 60 More or Less Group. She was a charter member of the Lillian Eason Sunday School Class and was affectionately known as the “official dishwasher” for church dinners and events. She was a charter member and past chairman of the Historical Society, and the preservation of the Alexander Hotel was dear to her heart. She was a member of the Independent Telephone Pioneer Association, the Tattnall County Library Board, the Red Cross Mobile Unit, and the American Cancer Society. She was also a member of the Reidsville Rascalettes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. J.E. Stephens; her mother, Eva Kennedy DuBose; her step-father, Winston DuBose; her father, George Folsom; brother, James Folsom; sister, Edith Beach; and her grandson, Chan Alan Trim. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Lisa Trim; sister, Peggy Rewis; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Clay and Tiffany Trim all of Reidsville; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Lupe and Tele Wood of Kennesaw; great-grandchildren, Chandler Blake Trim and Maria Esperanza Wood; nieces, Lynda Mobley and Francine Manskee; and a host of other relatives and friends. Lavon Collins Bird, 71 Lavon Collins Bird, 71, of Cobbtown died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro. The Tattnall County native and lifelong resident of Cobbtown was retired from Augusta Sportswear as a seamstress. Lavon did enjoy her life and loved the Atlanta Braves. Her favorite pastime was watching wrestling while visiting her great-grandson and eating with friends, Danny and Patricia Brown. She attended Sunlight Primitive Baptist Church. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Misty Bird of Cobbtown; a daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Jiggs Marsh of Brooklet; four grandchildren, James Marsh Jr. and Michael Marsh both of Brooklet, Maci Bird and Dylan Bird both of Cobbtown; and one great-grandson, James Herman Marsh III; three brothers, Frank Collins of Titusville, FL, Howard Collins of Guyton, GA and J.C. Tommy Gene Dickey, 78 Tommy Gene Dickey, 78, died Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Veteran’s Hospital in Dublin. He was born in Tampa, FL, and moved to Cobbtown in 1971 after military retirement. He began his career as a medic in U.S. Navy and retired as Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Tommy was a member of the Cobbtown Baptist Church where he had served as treasurer, and was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a member of the Roger Wood Masonic Lodge in Cobbtown, the Scottish Rites in Savannah, the American Legion post and served on the Cobbtown City Council. Tommy enjoyed woodcarving and was an avid history reader. He was preceded in death by his wife, Loree Collins Dickey. He is survived by a wonderful family of cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26, 2008, from the Chapel of Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown, with burial following in the Sunlight Cemetery with Military Honors. Diane Freeman, 50 Diane Freeman, 50, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home. The lifelong resident of Metter was a member of the Metter Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Steve Freeman; son, Jason Williams; mother, Helen Bello, all of Metter; brother, Philip Roberts; sister, Sandra Piel, both of Savannah and grandson, Jordan Williams. James Harrelson, 73 Mr. James Harrelson, 73, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin. The Emanuel County native had lived in Claxton many years before moving to Collins six years ago. He was a US Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and was retired from Lyons Veneer Mill. He attended Collins Full Gospel Tabernacle. Mr. Harrelson was preceded in death by his wife of 52years, Irene Weaver Harrelson, a son, Billy Harrelson and a daughter, Regina Harrelson. He is survived by: two daughters, Dorothy Harrelson and Tonia Fletcher both of Collins; three sons, Danny Weaver of Reidsville, and Hugie Harrelson and Emory Bud Harrelson both of Collins; two sisters, Susan Huggins of Pembroke and Lucille McComb of California; 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services were conducted Saturday, April 26, 2008, from the Chapel of Bradley B. Anderson Funeral Home, with Rev. Andrew Nelms officiating. Interment followed in the Collins Baptist Church Cemetery.
James Willis Walker, 76 James Willis Walker, 76, died Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at his home. He was born in Candler County and lived in Eaton Park, FL, for many years before moving back to Tattnall County. Willis was a supervisor at Florida Tiles, a farmer and a retired security guard at Meadows Regional Hospital in Vidalia. He was an Army veteran and a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Metter. Willis was a wonderful husband and father and loved to restore old cars. He was preceded in death by his sister, Willene Hess and a brother, Lonnie Walker. He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean Wilds Walker of Collins; two sons, Johnny Walker of Collins and Willis Wayne Walker of Cobbtown; five daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Jo and Lee Jarriel, Linda Kaye and Bob Hansen both of Collins, Anita Hozey of Metter, Margaret Ann and Sam Young of Lyons, Patsy and Mike Ernst of Collins; seven brothers and sisters, Shelton Walker, Alvin Walker, Josephine Alford, Nilafaye Rewis, Idell Gunter, Aletha Howell and Lorene Lloyd, all of Florida; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Kennedy Funeral Homes, Cobbtown Chapel, with Reverend Andy Haman officiating. Cremation will follow.
